Arabella Golf Club
Situated on 112 hectares of land, the Arabella Golf Course was created by Peter Matkovitch, South Africa's leading golf course designer. It is set in the midst of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve and is bordered by the Bot River Lagoon, the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa. The 9th, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon and is, therefore, an outstandingly beautiful place to play.
The theme is balance. Challenging enough to bring you back for more, enjoyable enough to make you not want to leave. It is 6381 metres in length and has a SAGU rating of 72. It was named the best new course in the country just after it was opened and is now ranked fifth in South Africa by Golf Digest and number two by the Compleat Golfer. It has the highest possible environmental certification as the result of farsighted planning and responsible management.
Ernie Els describes the 9th hole of the golf course as the most beautiful par five in his homeland. The golf course designer paid special attention to providing "egalitarian" fairways that also allow the less practiced golfer to master the challenges they pose. This means that the driver can be used more often than usual. More advanced players and seasoned professionals look forward to doing battle with the small and large bunkers and the deep blue water hazards. And just try and master a tricky, 160-meter-long par three without playing a bogey. You should also watch out for sudden gusts of wind that have been known to adversely affect the flight of a ball.
Facilities - Bar; caddies, carts for hire, conference facilities; gym; halfway house; locker facilities; pool and practice area. A recent introduction has been GPS-equipped golf carts. These significantly ease and speed up play as they allow golfers to see exactly where other players are on the course.
Visitor Policy - Visitors are welcome at Arabella Golf Club. We require every golfer to have an official handicap and membership card or handicap certificate must be brought on the day of play. Non-resident golfers may only book tee-off times up to a maximum of seven days prior to day of play. Preference for tee times is given to hotel guests and members.
Dress Code - The dress code for the Golf Club is smart casual or accepted golf attire. All players are required to wear a collared shirt. No jeans or t-shirts are allowed on the golf course. It is a soft spike only course.
